That Makes Total Sense! Podcast Episode 312 with David Toole
Content warning: This episode includes discussions of graphic violence and genocide.
This interview is a unique one for the podcast. Professor and author, David Toole, has written a book on the life of his friend, Maggy Barankitse, who is an advocate, currently living in exile. Maggy is a Burundian survivor of one of the genocides to plague her region of Africa. Even while living with the memories of the violence that took the lives of so many in her community, including close friends and family members, Maggy has made it her purpose to build places meant for healing and care for those around her. She says, “Every morning we invent how to live with dignity.” And, “our human vocation is to heal our brothers and sisters.” David Toole, who has been so impacted by the life and work of Maggy, has chosen to compile and share her stories to inspire us to live the kind of life bent toward healing, dignity, and compassion, as well.
